Lusail Stadium is a football stadium in the new planned city of Lusail, north of Doha in Qatar, built as the main venue of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Designed by the British firm Foster and Partners, it has a capacity of about eighty thousand and a golden facade inspired by the patterns of traditional Arab bowls and lamps. It staged ten matches of the tournament, including the opening game of Argentina against Saudi Arabia, in which Saudi Arabia won, and the final on 18 December 2022, when Argentina beat France on penalties. The preparations for the tournament, including the construction of stadiums such as this one, drew criticism over the treatment and working conditions of migrant labourers.
