Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the main airport of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in southern China, and one of the busiest airports in Asia. The new airport opened in the Huadu district to replace the old Baiyun Airport, which stood close to the city centre and had become too congested to expand. It is the main hub of China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in Asia by fleet size. The airport has been expanded with additional terminals and runways, and it is linked to the city by metro. It serves the Pearl River Delta, one of the most densely populated and industrialized regions in the world.
