Gazprom Arena, also called the Krestovsky Stadium, is a football stadium on Krestovsky Island in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and the home ground of Zenit. Its construction took far longer and cost far more than planned, after the original design by the Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa was modified and the project struggled with delays. It opened in 2017, in time to host matches of the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where it staged a semi-final. It has a retractable roof and a sliding pitch that can be moved outside. UEFA moved the 2022 Champions League final from the stadium following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
