Lana Del Rey was born on 21 June 1985 in New York City. An American singer-songwriter, Lana Del Rey, born Elizabeth Grant, came to wide attention in 2011 with the song Video Games, which was followed by the album Born to Die in 2012. Her music mixes cinematic orchestral pop with references to old Hollywood, American nostalgia and tragic romance, creating a distinctive, melancholy persona. Later albums include Ultraviolence, Honeymoon, Lust for Life, Chemtrails over the Country Club and Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which were widely praised by critics. She has been nominated for several Grammy Awards and has a devoted international following.
