Boris Johnson was born on 19 June 1964 in Upper East Side. A British politician and former journalist, Johnson served as Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016 and was a leading campaigner for Brexit in the 2016 referendum. He was foreign secretary under Theresa May and became Conservative leader and prime minister in July 2019. He won a large majority in the December 2019 general election and completed the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union in January 2020. His premiership was dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic and by the Partygate scandal over gatherings in Downing Street, which, together with a wave of ministerial resignations, forced him to announce his resignation in July 2022.
