Time is an American news magazine whose first issue was published in March 1923 by Briton Hadden and Henry Luce, two Yale graduates who wanted to summarise the week's news for busy readers. It was one of the first weekly news magazines in the United States, known for its distinctive red border on the cover and for the style of its writing. From 1927 it has named a Man of the Year, later Person of the Year, an honour awarded to the individual or group that most influenced the news. Luce built it into the core of a publishing empire that also included Life and Fortune. The magazine moved to digital publishing and was sold in 2018 to Marc Benioff and his wife Lynne.
