Publication of Snow White

1812

Snow White, known in German as Schneewittchen, was included by the Brothers Grimm in the first volume of their collection Children's and Household Tales, published in Berlin. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm gathered folk tales from oral tradition and from friends, and revised them in several later editions, so the version best known today comes from their 1857 edition. The tale of a beautiful girl, her jealous stepmother, a magic mirror and seven dwarfs has related stories across Europe. Walt Disney's 1937 film, the first full-length cel-animated feature, made it famous throughout the world.
