Premiere of Peppa Pig

31 May 2004

Peppa Pig is a British animated series for young children, created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, about a little pig who lives with her family and friends. Each short episode shows her everyday adventures, such as jumping in muddy puddles, visiting grandparents and playing with her little brother George. It first aired in the United Kingdom on Channel 5, and became hugely popular, being sold to many countries and generating toys, books and a theme park. Its simple style and humour have appealed to preschool audiences worldwide. It has also been the subject of occasional controversies, including criticism in some places of its content.
