Founding of University of Pula

21 December 2006

The Juraj Dobrila University of Pula is a public university in Pula, in the Croatian region of Istria. It was established by the Croatian parliament and is named after Juraj Dobrila, a 19th-century bishop of Poreč and Pula and a Croatian national figure. It grew from higher education institutions that had previously operated in the city, including units linked with the University of Rijeka. Its programs include economics and tourism, educational sciences, humanities and music, and some are taught in Italian as well as Croatian, reflecting the bilingual character of Istria. It is one of the youngest universities in Croatia.
