The Universite de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is a French public university located in the department of Yvelines, to the south-west of Paris, with campuses in Versailles, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and other towns. It was created as one of several new universities set up around the Paris region to relieve pressure on the older Parisian universities. It teaches law, science, medicine, humanities and social sciences, and it is known for research in subjects such as physics, climate science and health. The university is a member of the Universite Paris-Saclay, a large grouping of institutions that was formed to build a research and teaching centre of international standing on the plateau south of Paris.
