Founding of Coritiba F.C.

1909

Coritiba Foot Ball Club is a Brazilian football club from Curitiba, the capital of the state of Parana. It was founded by members of the city's German-descended community and takes its name from an indigenous word for the region's pine forests. Its colours are green and white, and it plays its home matches at the Couto Pereira stadium. The club has dominated the Parana state championship over the years. Its greatest national success was winning the Brazilian championship in 1985, when it beat Bangu on penalties in the final.
