The England men's national football team represents England in international football and is run by the Football Association, which was founded in London and wrote the first standard rules of the game. England played the first international football match in history, a goalless draw against Scotland in Glasgow. The team won the 1966 World Cup on home soil, beating West Germany in the final at Wembley, which remains its only major title. It has reached the final of the European Championship in 2021 and 2024, losing to Italy on penalties and then to Spain. Known as the Three Lions, the team plays at Wembley Stadium, and it has a long rivalry with Scotland, Germany and Argentina.
