Death of David Bowie

10 January 2016

David Bowie died on 10 January 2016 in Lafayette Street, aged 69. An English musician and actor, Bowie emerged in the late 1960s and became one of the most inventive figures in popular music through his constant reinvention. His 1969 single Space Oddity was followed by the persona of Ziggy Stardust, the glam-rock album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, and later the soul-influenced Young Americans and the Berlin trilogy of Low, Heroes and Lodger, made with Brian Eno. He scored hits with Let's Dance in the 1980s, and acted in films such as The Man Who Fell to Earth. He released his final album, Blackstar, two days before his death in January 2016.
