Construction of White Hart Lane

1899

White Hart Lane was the home ground of Tottenham Hotspur in north London for well over a century. The club moved onto the site, a former plant nursery, in 1899, and over time the ground was rebuilt with stands designed by the stadium architect Archibald Leitch and others. It staged many of the club's greatest nights, including the successful European campaigns of the 1960s and 1980s. The ground was closed at the end of the 2016-17 season and demolished. On the same site, the club built the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which opened in 2019 with a much larger capacity.
