The Volksparkstadion is the football stadium of Hamburger SV, located in the Altona district of Hamburg in the green surroundings of the Volkspark. The first stadium on the site opened in the early 1950s, and it was completely rebuilt in the late 1990s into a modern football-only arena. Over the years it has carried the names of several sponsors, including AOL Arena and HSH Nordbank Arena, before returning to the original name in 2015. It has hosted matches of the 1974 and 2006 World Cups, the 2010 UEFA Europa League final, and games of the 2024 European Championship. The arena remains central to the identity of the club, one of the oldest in Germany.
