The Kunsthistorisches Museum, or Museum of Art History, in Vienna is one of the world's great art museums, built on the Ringstrasse to house the collections of the Habsburg dynasty. It was designed by Gottfried Semper and Carl Hasenauer in the style of the Italian Renaissance, with a grand marble staircase and a dome, and it stands opposite its twin, the Natural History Museum. The picture gallery holds masterpieces of Titian, Raphael, Velazquez, Vermeer and Rubens, and it has the world's largest collection of paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Other collections include Egyptian and Near Eastern antiquities, classical sculpture and decorative arts, among them the famous gold salt cellar made by Benvenuto Cellini.
