Construction of Bible Lands Museum

1985

The Bible Lands Museum is an archaeological museum in Jerusalem, established by the collector Elie Borowski to display his collection of antiquities from the ancient Near East. Its galleries present objects from the civilisations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Anatolia, Persia and the Levant, with the aim of showing the cultural world in which the Hebrew Bible and the early history of the region developed. The collection includes cuneiform tablets, seals, pottery, sculpture and jewellery. It is located close to the Israel Museum, near other cultural institutions in the city's museum district. The museum is also known for educational programmes that help visitors link archaeological finds to the stories of the Bible.
