Warren Buffett was born on 30 August 1930 in Omaha. An American investor and businessman, Buffett is the chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate he transformed from a failing textile mill into one of the largest companies in the world. A disciple of Benjamin Graham, he built his fortune through value investing, buying shares of businesses with durable advantages at sensible prices and holding them for years. Nicknamed the Oracle of Omaha, he lives modestly and has pledged to give away most of his wealth, largely through the Gates Foundation. His annual letters to shareholders are widely read.
