Pierce Brosnan was born on 16 May 1953 in Drogheda. An Irish actor and producer, Brosnan rose to fame in the American television series Remington Steele, and became the fifth actor to play James Bond, beginning with GoldenEye in 1995 and ending with Die Another Day in 2002. His other work includes Mrs. Doubtfire, The Thomas Crown Affair, The Matador and the musical Mamma Mia, in which his singing was widely mocked. He also runs a production company, Irish DreamTime, and supports environmental causes. He was appointed an honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
