Albanian writer (1936–2024). Ismail Kadare was born on 28 January 1936 in what is now Albania. Ismail Kadare is remembered as a poet, novelist and translator, a citizen of Albania and France. Notable works include “The General of the Dead Army”, “The Castle” and “Chronicle in Stone”. Positions held included Member of the Parliament of Albania.
