Ingrid Bergman was born on 29 August 1915 in Hedvig Eleonora parish. A Swedish actress, Bergman became one of the most celebrated stars of Hollywood and European cinema. She came to fame with Intermezzo and then starred in Casablanca, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Gaslight, Spellbound and Notorious. She won three Academy Awards, for Gaslight, Anastasia and Murder on the Orient Express. Her relationship with the Italian director Roberto Rossellini, with whom she had a child while still married to another man, caused a scandal in the United States, and she worked in Europe for years before returning to Hollywood in triumph. Her last major role was as Golda Meir in a television film.
