2024 Lebanon electronic device attacks

In the 2024 Lebanon electronic device attacks, thousands of pagers and then walkie-talkies used by members of Hezbollah exploded almost simultaneously across Lebanon and in parts of Syria on two consecutive days. Dozens of people were killed and thousands wounded, many of them with severe injuries to the hands, face and eyes, and some civilians, including children, were among the victims. The attacks were widely attributed to Israel, and reports described explosives hidden in the devices before they were delivered. They came during escalating exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah after October 2023. United Nations human rights officials said that booby-trapping everyday devices could violate international law, and the incident was followed by further Israeli strikes and a ground operation in Lebanon in the autumn of 2024.
