Founding of West Ham United F.C.

1895

West Ham United is a football club from East London, which began as Thames Ironworks, a works team formed by the owner of the Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company, Arnold Hills. It was reformed as West Ham United in 1900 and played for more than a century at the Boleyn Ground in Upton Park before moving to the London Stadium in 2016. The club is known for developing players, and three of its men, Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters, were central to England's victory in the 1966 World Cup. West Ham won the FA Cup in 1964, 1975 and 1980, and the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023. Its supporters are called the Hammers, or the Irons.
