Arsenal began as Dial Square, a team formed in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal weapons factory in Woolwich, south-east London. It soon took the name Royal Arsenal and later Woolwich Arsenal, becoming the first southern club to enter the Football League. In 1913 it moved north of the Thames to Highbury, which gave it a new base and a wider fan following. Under manager Herbert Chapman in the 1930s it won its first league titles, and it later won the double and became known for long spells of success. Under Arsène Wenger it went through the 2003-04 Premier League season unbeaten, and since 2006 it has played at the Emirates Stadium.
