The Italy national football team represents Italy in international men's football and is run by the Italian Football Federation. Known as the Azzurri, or the blues, after the colour of its shirts, it played its first official match in 1910 and became one of the most successful sides in history. It won the World Cup four times, in 1934 and 1938 under coach Vittorio Pozzo, in 1982 and in 2006, and it also won the European Championship in 1968 and in the delayed Euro 2020 tournament. The team is famed for its defensive organization, a style known as catenaccio. Italy has missed some recent tournaments, including the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
