Construction of MHPArena

23 July 1933

The MHPArena is a football stadium in Stuttgart, in the Cannstatt district near the Neckar River, and the home of VfB Stuttgart. It was built in the early 1930s and first named after Adolf Hitler, and after the war it was renamed the Neckarstadion. It has been rebuilt several times, as a more modern, football-only arena with a roof over the stands, and has carried the names of various sponsors in recent decades. The stadium has hosted games in the World Cups of 1974 and 2006 and the European Championships of 1988 and 2024. It also hosted athletics events, including the 1993 World Championships.
