Don Giovanni is an opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with an Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. It was first performed in Prague, where Mozart was warmly received after the success of The Marriage of Figaro, and was later revised for a Vienna staging. The story concerns a nobleman who seduces women, murders the father of one of them and is finally dragged to hell by the statue of his victim. Mozart and Da Ponte labelled the work a dramma giocoso, mixing comedy, romance and the supernatural. It remains one of the most frequently performed operas, admired for its music and for the contradictions of its anti-hero.
