The Macedonian Wars were four wars fought between the Roman Republic and the Kingdom of Macedonia and its Greek allies between the late 3rd and the mid-2nd centuries BCE. The first was fought while Rome was occupied with Hannibal, as Philip V of Macedon allied with Carthage. The second ended in a Roman victory at Cynoscephalae and in Flamininus's declaration of the freedom of the Greeks. In the third, King Perseus was defeated at Pydna and Macedonia was split into four republics. After the revolt of Andriscus in the fourth war, Macedonia became a Roman province, and in 146 BCE Rome destroyed Corinth after the Achaean War, completing its control of Greece.
