278 Paulina is an asteroid in the main belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered in May 1888 by the Austrian astronomer Johann Palisa, who found a large number of asteroids by visual observation in the late nineteenth century. Like most asteroids of its type, it is a small rocky body that orbits the Sun in a few years and is visible only through a telescope.
