William Henry Harrison was born on 9 February 1773 in Charles City County. The ninth President of the United States, Harrison was a soldier and territorial governor of Indiana who won fame for the 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe against a Native American confederacy led by Tecumseh's followers. He won the 1840 election as the Whig candidate with the campaign slogan Tippecanoe and Tyler Too, portraying himself as a man of the people. At 68 he was then the oldest man elected president. He delivered the longest inaugural address in American history in cold weather, and a month later he died, becoming the first president to die in office. His term, the shortest in the country's history, lasted only a month.
