The 2026 Afghanistan-Pakistan war is an armed conflict between the two neighbouring countries that began in February 2026 and was described as ongoing at the time this entry was compiled. Tensions had been rising for years over the status of the Durand Line, the border between them, and over Pakistan's accusation that the Taliban government in Kabul sheltered militants, notably the Pakistani Taliban, who carried out attacks inside Pakistan. Earlier border clashes had occurred in 2025. Details of the fighting, casualties and any ceasefires should be checked against current reliable reporting.
